“Bhartiya Naari Sab par Bhaari,” said former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, after India’s weightlifting superstar Khumukcham Sanjita Chanu made the entire nation proud with her exemplary performance on the second day of Commonwealth Games 2018 at Gold Coast City, in Queensland, Australia on Friday.
The 24-year-old weightlifter from the state of Manipur finished first in the women’s 53kg finals at the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre while gifting India its second gold medal in 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Earlier, her heroics at the Glasgow CWG in women’s 48kg category had won her gold 4 years ago while this time she decided to break the existing CWG record with a lift of 84kg in the snatch category and 108 kg in clean-and-jerk to finish with a total of 192kg.
