After the current test series in England, Indian cricket team is all set to play the 14th edition of the Asia Cup which will be played in the United Arab Emirates(UAE) from September 15, 2018.

Owing to this, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has recently announced the 16-man squad for the tournament. Well, the interesting news over here is that the selectors have decided to rest the current Indian skipper Virat Kohli because of the intense workload he has gone through and the back pain.

Now, Ro(Hit) man Sharma will be seen leading the Indian team during the Asia Cup 2018. Further, the likes of Kedar Jadhav, Ambati Rayudu, and  Manish Pandey have been recalled to the squad while Chinna Thala Suresh Raina, paceman Umesh Yadav and Siddarth Kaul who were part of the ODI squad in England are no longer part of the squad and will miss out the tournament.

BCCI surprises everyone, selects a new left-arm pacer

Meanwhile, the selectors have left us surprised by their decision to include left-arm pacer Khaleel Amed into the squad. Well, this can be a good call from the selectors as India has earlier been blessed with left-arm fast bowlers such as Zaheer Khan and Irrfan Pathan. So, shall we expect the same from Khaleel Ahmed?

Check out Khaleel Ahmed’s performance in the video below:

Khaleel, a 20-year-old from Rajasthan’s Tonk has played 17 List A matches, taking 28 wickets at an awesome economy rate of  4.74.

Well, the rookie pacer has earlier played for Delhi Daredevils and then Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last season. As per the reports, Rahul Dravid has been mentoring Khaleel since 2016 U-19 world cup. Further, he was with India A during England tour too,

Moreover, Khaleel’s rise in cricket is all due to his childhood coach Imtiaz, who convinced his father about his son’s cricketing talent.

In 2016, the Asian Games event was the first tournament in T20I format and was played between 5 teams in Bangladesh. While it was India who had won the final match by beating Bangladesh by 8 wickets.

Meanwhile,  India is currently the world’s best and the most successful team in the tournament having won it 6 times.
