Rohit Sharma to lead ‘Men in Blue’ ahead of the Tri-series in Srilanka, Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni rested

As Virat Kohli & Co, eye series win in their 3rd T20 against the Proteas at Cape Town on Saturday and finish their hectic schedule in South Africa. Keeping this mind the players, as well as BCCI, has decided to rest the top cricketers for the upcoming tri-series in Srilanka.

As per the report, captain Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar will be rested for the tri-series.

While the Indian Cricket Board has selected Rohit Sharma as the skipper of the young Indian team that will visit Sri Lanka for Nidahas Trophy.

A source from BCCI said, “What is the point of sending these cricketers after such a hectic South African tour.”

On Sunday the Indian selectors will look forward to selecting some new names for the series.

After the Vijay Hazare match between Andhra and Delhi’s wicket-keeper batsman, Rishabh Pant was seen having a conversation with the chairman of the selection panel MSK Prasad and the other two selectors at the Palam cricket grounds.

Hence, Pant can be seen as a perfect replacement for Dhoni.

According to sources, Kedhar Jadhav is unlikely to be part of the squad due to illness so there could be as many as six openings for the new young Indian ODI team.

Apart from the Islanders India will also have to fight with Bangladesh in order to collect the Nidahas Trophy. The series will be played from March 6 to March 18.

The tournament will feature seven matches in total while India will play its first match against Srilanka on March 6.
