Insane! New Zealand Women’s Team Scores 490 RUNS Against Ireland In 1st ODI, Highest Score Ever Made In This Format

Hats Off to New Zealand Women’s Cricket team skipper Suzie Bates who led from the front to smash a blistering 151-run knock off just 94 balls with 24 boundaries and 2 over the ropes, against Ireland to post the highest ever total in one-day cricket.

Indeed, all the records were broken at the YMCA Cricket Club, Dublin as the ‘White Ferns’ smashed 490-4 against Ireland to surpass their own 21-year old world of 455/5 against Pakistan.

Shockingly, Ireland lost the match by very big-margin of 346 runs after they were bowled out for 144 runs.

In men’s cricket, the highest total in ODI is 444 for 3, which is scored by England against Pakistan in August 2016 at Nottingham.

Moreover, this is only the 3rd time that a 400-plus score has been made in women’s ODIs. While Australian cricket team was the first one to touch the 400-plus mark. The team had scored 412 for three in Mumbai in December 1997.

While opener Jess Watkin to joined her skipper and scored 69 runs to build a strong partnership against their opposition.

We were left awestruck when the 25-year-old Maddy Green thrashed the Irish bowlers to score 121 off 105 balls hitting 17 shots to the fence and 2 sixes.

Also, the Wellington girl Amelia Kerr smashed the ball all around the park to hit  81 off 71 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes.

In the bowling department, Leigh Kasperek scalped a match-winning 4-wicket haul to defeat the Ireland women’s team.

Meanwhile, NZ skipper surpassed the 55-year-old Debbie Hockley to become the all-time leading ODI runs scorer with 4070 runs.

Now New Zealand and Ireland will face each other on Sunday in their 2nd match of the three-match series.
