Happy Birthday Sonam Kapoor: 5 Movies Of Her That Proves Why The Star Will Continue To Rule Bollywood

Finally, our lovely Masakali girl Sonam Kapoor Ahuja has turned 33. Making her debut opposite RK in Sawaariya, the Mere Rashke Qamar queen has become the dream girl of every Indian guy. Uff! We can’t even forget her fascinating smile in the song Dheere Dheere Se Meri Zindagi. Meanwhile, her movies like Khoobsurat and Veere Di Wedding has made her earn the tag of one of the most entertaining girls of the Bollywood industry girls. While movies like Neerja is a source of inspiration for every woman. Well, she is beautiful, smart, witty, well we have no more word left to describe her.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

It was interesting to see superstar Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor pairing up for the movie Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.  Directed by Sooraj Barjatya PRDP  collected around 432 crores at the box-office to become one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. Also, Sonam’s performance as Rajkumari Maithili Devi was praised by the critics as she won BIG Star Entertainment Awards for Most Entertaining Actor in a Romantic Role – Female. We, can’t wait to see them back on the screen again.

 Delhi-6

Seriously, Sonam left us awestruck with her role of  Bittu in Delhi 6 when we saw her opposite Jr. Bachchan. Meanwhile, the song Aye Masakali MasaKali Ud Mataak Kali Mataak Kali turned out to be one of the favourite songs of the year. Well, the movie is inspired by real reports of much-publicised monkey or monkeyman attacks in and around Delhi in 2001. Meanwhile, check out the epic song Masakali in the video below:

Raanjhanaa

Who would’ve thought that the film Raanjhanaa starring Tamil superstar Dhanush and Sonam will become the 2nd highest-grosser of 2013 at the time of its release? Sonam’s role as  Zoya Haider in  Anand L. Rai-directed romantic drama was praised by the critics which also marks a turning point in her career.   The movie has collected Rs. 135 crore at the box-office and was a major was a commercial success.

Pad Man

After a two-year break, we saw Sonam returning to the screen to play a social worker in Akshay Kumar starrer comedy-drama Pad Man. Well, it was interesting to see Akshay and Sonam collaborate almost after 7 years. While her role in the film was little as compared to her co-stars, Sonam really did a fantastic job in the movie. She, further revealed that  length of the role is of little importance to her as long as the film has “relevance beyond just having a good time at the movies.”

Neerja

Directed by  Ram Madhvani, Neerja is a biopic which is based on the life of Neerja Bhanot, who is a head purser of   Pan Am Flight 73. while the story revolves around  Abu Nidal organisation, a Libyan-sponsored terrorist group,  that plans to hijack the plane in Karachi. The movie shows the courage and patriotism of Neerja who died trying to help save 359 of the 379 passengers and crew on board. While Neerja won six awards, Kapoor went on to win Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress for the movie also an ‘I Am Woman’ award for woman empowerment too.

Definitely, she is a role model for every young actress who aims to dream big in the industry.
