IPL Auction 2018: Desi players dominate on Day 2

IPL Auction comes to a sensational end as franchises prefer young Indian talent over big names.

The Sunday turned out to be a fascinating one for the Indian spearhead Jaidev Unadkat as the youngster was bought by Rajasthan Royals for a sum of Rs.11.5 cr.

The franchise had acquired the England all-rounder Ben Stokes for Rs.12.5 cr in the first day of VIVO IPL auction.

The 2nd day of IPL auction witnessed Kings XI Punjab roping in Andrew Tye for Rs.7.2 cr.

The Preity Zinta led franchise bagged Chris Gayle for Rs.2 crore. While the West Indies opener was initially ignored by the franchises but was later purchased at the base price.

Furthermore, Indian cricketer, Murali Vijay was also ignored by the teams before being bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs.2cr.

Sandeep Lamichhane created history by becoming the first cricketer from Nepal to be picked in IPL auction. The cricketer was purchased by Delhi Daredevils for Rs.20 lakhs.

While Franchises looked least interested in foreign players like Dale Steyn, Corey Anderson and Eoin Morgan went unsold in the IPL auction.

The biggest highlight of the day was Mujeeb Zadran, the 16-year-old cricketer from Afghanistan was picked by Kings XI Punjab for Rs.4 crore.

While RCB also decided to go with the flow of recruiting young players when they purchased Washington Sundar for Rs.3.2 cr.

India U-19 captain Prithvi Shaw went to Delhi Daredevils for Rs.1.2 crore.

Sunrisers Hyderabad got pacer Sandeep Sharma for Rs.2.4 cr. While KKR purchased Shivam Mavi for Rs.3 crore.

Moreover, Big names Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, were sold at cheap rates in the IPL auction.
