Aaron Finch’s, Fiery 172 Turns Out Be Zimbabwe’s Worst Night Mare At Harare

Incredible, 172 off just 76 balls, Australia’s current T20 skipper Aaron Finch has exploded in the most destructive innings ever witnessed in T20 cricket as Australia post a mammoth total of 229/2 in 20 overs against Zimbabwe in Harare.

Indeed, the Victoria-born cricketer beat his previous highest score of 156 against England in 2013. While he fell three runs short of breaking 175no scored by Chris Gayle Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League in 2013.

Finch Destroys Zimbabwe

Well, the 31-year-old explosive opener played some magnificent shots as he smashed his own records with a merciless century of just 50 deliveries. He ruthlessly tore apart the poor Zimbabwean attack by smashing 16 fours and 10 sixes.

While Christopher Mpofu went for 0/53 from 4 overs. Opening bowler John Nyumbu was not even allowed to complete his spell as he finished with 0/44 from 3 overs. Solomon Mire would definitely remember this match for life as he had only bowled just 1 over and went for almost 21 runs.

Well, Finch single-handedly took the match away from Zimbabwe. In the end, he was dismissed hitting his own wicket when he lost his balance at the crease on the penultimate ball of the innings and knocked his off stump with his own bat.

Meanwhile D’Arcy Short scored 46 from 42 balls to create an impressive opening stand of 223 which is also a record stand for T20 internationals for any wicket.

Easy Win For Australia

On the other hand, Zimbabwe kept on losing wickets and there was not even a single player to even score 30 runs. For Australia, Andrew Tye bowled excellently and ended with 3/12 from 4 overs. Also, Ashton Agar came in support of Tye as he finished with 2/16 in 4 overs as Zimbabwe scored 129/9 at the end of 20 overs and lost the match by a whopping 100 runs.

Satisfied with his performance, Finch said, “It was one of those days, a few things went my way and I hit a few in the middle which was nice.”

Aware of Chris Gayle’s record, he added, “I sure did (know about it). He’s a great player and he deserves it (the record).”
