Who would have thought Rakesh Unni, a rubber farm labourer from nooranad, aleppy, Kerala whose singing video went viral earlier this week on social media will impress Shankar Mahadevan and as per the latest reports, Rakesh has now got a call from the legendary singer and composer himself.
As per The News Minute, Unni became viral after a video of his melodious rendition of a hit Tamil song, Unai Kaanadhu Naan, from the movie Vishwaroopam, on Friday.
According to Indian Express reports, Rakesh who belongs to Kerala’s Alappuzha district said his sister’s husband in Kuwait had earlier called up to inform him that his video was now going viral.
Well, the video was shared by Director Vignesh Shivn on Twitter who had asked his fellow musicians to give Rakesh a good opportunity to prove his talent.
“I cut rubber and carry it on my shoulders and load them onto a truck. That’s my job,” he told TNM and said that it was his friend Shameer who had earlier shot the video of him singing
This is called fruit of labour!
When we hear this, it just makes me feel so so proud of our country that produces so much talent and is so rich in culture. Who is this guy???

After the video went viral, it received millions of views and thousands of comments while Rakesh received a lot of praise too.
Well, lady luck seems to be favouring his Indian labourer when Shankar Mahadevan sang the original and reposted Rakesh’s video to ask if anyone knew him.
TNM reported that the 51-year-old singer got Rakesh’s number and called him too.
Speaking about his conversation with Mr. Mahadevan, Rakesh said, “I consider it my biggest blessing. He told me I have a good voice, a good future. I said I just want to see him once.”
Meanwhile, Rakesh thanked Shankar Mahadevan and other singers for giving him such a good opportunity.
On #SocialMediaDay
I had posted about this very special & talented farmer Rakesh Unni & I’ve just been able to find him through the reach of the internet, I spoke with him & will now take things forward!
I’d like to thank each one of you for the tremendous love & support. pic.twitter.com/ZKcCYH3Kj4— Shankar Mahadevan (@Shankar_Live) July 2, 2018
“He said we will not just see, we will sing together,” he added.
Further, he said that he has never learned music before, though from the past few months he had started to take training to learn classical music.
It seems that Rakesh is now receiving a lot of calls from a lot of renowned people that includes singer Pandalam Balan, violinist musician Balabhaskar and music composer Gopi Sunder.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time a singer has achieved viral fame. A few days ago, a man filmed singing at a railway station on his way to Haldwani went viral after his videos got lots of ‘likes’ on social media.
Indeed, India’s real talent is its beautiful rural India.
