Independence Day 2018: 5 Bollywood Movies That Will Evoke A Sense Of Patriotism In You

While we can’t wait to watch Akshay Kumar’s Gold and John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate, releasing this Independence Day, how can we forget Sunny paaji’s brave act in Border or Aamir’s new age patriotic drama in Rang De Basanti, and other Bollywood movies which have evoked a feeling of patriotism in us?

As India celebrates its 71st Independence Day, here is our list of best patriotic movies which will get you into a celebratory mode:

1. Rang De Basanti

After starring in movies like Sarfarosh and Lagaan, Mr. Perfectionist came back with yet another patriotic drama Rang De Basanti in 2006. Directed by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra, the movie also featured Soha Ali Khan, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi along with various other actors. Surprisingly, the film was praised by critics and had a noticeable influence on Indian society. Moreover, the movie went on to win the award for Best movie at Filmfare Awards. 2. Border

JP Dutta’s Border which is based on the Battle of Longewala during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 is one of those classic movies which is still loved by the audience. Well, the movie starring  Sunil Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, and Jackie Shroff went on to break many box-office records to become the highest-grossing film of the year in India. 3. Mangal Pandey: The Rising

Aamir comeback movie Mangal Pandey: The Rising narrates an inspiring story of  Mangal Pandey, an Indian soldier known for helping to spark the Indian rebellion of 1857. Directed by Ketan Mehta, the movie did magic at the box-office and was even premiered in the Marché du Film section of the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. Well, the movie is a perfect attempt at bringing alive a great hero on celluloid.

4. Gandhi

Directed by Richard Attenborough, Gandhi is an epic historical drama movie which shows the life of Mahatma Gandhi who made Britishers go back to their country using non-violent methods. Further, the movie won 8 Academy Awards which includes the best actor, best picture and best director.

5. Mother India

When we talk about Independence day we cannot forget  Nargis, Sunil Dutt, Rajendra Kumar, and Raaj Kumar starrer Mother India. Nargis Dutt as Radha showcased the struggle that India faced during the Independence phase.
