Karan Johar who started his Bollywood journey as a director way back in 1998 with SRK-Rani-Kajol starrer Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, had surprised the Hindi cinema and the film lovers all over India with his deep understanding of love and relationships. Over the years, with movies like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Kjo changed the outlook of every 90’s kid towards romantic movies in Bollywood.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

If you are 90’s kid, you would’ve definitely fallen in love with Anjali, Rahul, and Tina. The dialogues such as “Pyar Dosti Hai!” to “Kuch kuch hota hai, tum nahi samjhoge” are still reminisced by everyone. Well, It became the 3rd film to gross 1 billion worldwide after Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.  Moreover, the movie turned fortunes for Karan as he was immensely praised while one of the critics said that Karan “knows how to make a film with S-T-Y-L-E.”

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham saw Indian superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in the role of father and son. Later, the movie was Moreover, the songs of this movie K3G’s songs became so much popular that it became the largest selling album of the year in India. Moreover, it earned a worldwide gross of 1.35 billion to become the highest grosser in the overseas market at that time.

Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna

KJo’s 3rd directorial Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna was totally different from any other Bollywood movie. Starring  Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan and Preity Zinta in leading roles, the movie explores themes of adultery. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan probably played his most anti-Rahul role in KANK.  Well, You must also know that the script too received recognition by a number of critics and was further invited to be included in the library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

My Name Is Khan

My Name is Khan saw the reunion of “golden pair” of Khan and Kajol after K3G which released in 2001. The movie saw SRK playing the role of Rizwan who is suffering from Asperger’s syndrome but has a special ability to repair things. Moreover, the movie became the first one to gross over 100 crores overseas at that time. In 2017, SRK was honoured at the San Francisco Film festival for his role in the movie.

Student Of The Year

In Student Of The Year, Karan Johar did something completely different. Well, there was no SRK in this movie; further, the director also decided to experiment his new movie by bringing in three new actors Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. Surprisingly, the movie turned out to be the highest grossing movie of the year while Karan proved his worth in Bollywood and silenced his critics who said the director is successful due to SRK’s stardom.
