After playing the role of IRS officer in Raid, superstar Ajay Devgn will now be seen playing the role of Chanakya in a movie directed by Neeraj Pandey.
We all know Ajay likes to challenge himself and always tries for something new. From his Phool Aur Kannte days, the actor has always tried to win his audience with his performance. While Neeraj has directed movies like A Wednesday!, Special 26 and Baby.
On Wednesday, the Golmaal Again star Took to Twitter to make the official announcement, he wrote, “Looking forward to playing #Chanakya, a film about one of the greatest thinkers in Indian History, directed by @neerajpofficial. @RelianceEnt @FFW_Official @PlanC_Studios @ShitalBhatiaFFW”

Produced by Plan C Studios, a joint venture of Reliance Entertainment and Friday Filmworks the release date of the movie and the rest of the cast has yet not been decided.
Now Chanakya will also mark the 49-year-old actor’s first collaboration with Pandey.

Neeraj, in a press statement said,“I have been developing this film on Chanakya for some time now.”
Also, he said, “It is an exciting work of passion for me, and I am sure audiences will love Ajay’s portrayal of the visionary genius.”

Meanwhile, Ajay said, “I am truly looking forward to playing Chanakya.”
“I have observed Neeraj Pandey’s work closely and I know Neeraj will tell this story with the clarity and passion that it needs to be told,” he added.
We all have heard about Chanakya but let us inform you more about this historical figure:
- Born in 371 BC, Chanakya is an Indian teacher, philosopher, economist, jurist and royal advisor.
- Further it is said that Chanakya had played a major role in establishing the Chandragupta Maurya dynasty.
- It is said that he has written epic books like Chanakya Niti and Arthshashtra.
- Identified as Kauṭilya or Vishnugupta, he had assisted the first Mauryan emperor Chandragupta in his rise to power. Also, he played a significant role in establishing the Maurya Empire
- Also, he used to serve as the chief advisor to both emperors Chandragupta and his son Bindusara.
Now, Reliance Entertaiment’s Shibashish Sarkar said, “Epic characters such as Chanakya have an everlasting sense of mystery and legend around them.”
Well, Sarkar believes that the movie which is based on the life of Chanakaya will be loved by everyone.
In 2015, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat a popular TV series based on the life of Chanakya was recreated.
