Which Indian Cricketer Gave Shahid Afridi The Title Of ‘Boom Boom’? Any Guesses

Lala aka Shahid Afridi on Sunday took to Twitter for a #AskLala session in order to interact with his fans. Well, Lala has revealed the name of this famous Indian cricketer who nicknamed him ‘Boom Boom.’ Well, Shahid Afridi became popular by this nickname for his exceptional six-hitting ability.

Well, the 38-year-old cricketer has smashed 351 sixes in 398 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and  73 sixes in 99 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

In the interactive session, one of his fans asked Shahid Afridi that who gave him the title of Boom Boom. The leg-spinner revealed that  it was the former Indian cricketer and current India team coach Ravi Shastri  who nicknamed him ‘Boom Boom.’

Afridi who had made his ODI debut in 1998 against Australia played his last ODI match on March 20, 2015, against Australia at Adelaide. On the other hand, his last T20I was an exhibition match against West Indies where he was a part of the ICC World XI on May 2018.

In ODIs, he had scored 8,064 runs at an average of 23.57 and had taken 395 wickets at an average of 34.51 while in T20s, he has scored 1416 runs at an average of 17.92 and had taken 98 wickets at an average of 24.44.

Meanwhile, Ravi Shastri is currently on national duty at England where India is looking for historic win in 4th test after losing the first 2 tests and winning the 3rd one against Joe Root’s side.
