This is really a heartbreaking news for all the Bollywood fans out there. On Wednesday afternoon, Sonali Bendre, 43, the epitome of beauty confirmed on Twitter and Instagram that she is diagnosed with high-grade cancer. Sonali who had become popular with her Nirma Beauty Soap ad- film in the 90s revealed that she is currently undergoing treatment for the same in New York.

In a long statement which she wrote on Twitter that she and her family, friends are by her side to support her.
She wrote, “Sometimes, when you least expect it, life throws you a curveball. I have recently been diagnosed with a high grade cancer that has metastised, which we frankly did not see coming. A niggling pain led to some tests, which led to this unexpected diagnosis. My family and close friends have rallied around me, providing the best support system that anyone can ask for. I am very blessed and thankful for each of them.”
“There is no better way to tackle this, than to take swift and immediate action. And so, as advised by my doctors, I am currently undergoing a course of treatment in New York. We remain optimistic and I am determined to fight every step of the way. What has helped has been the immense outpouring of love and support I’ve received over the past few days, for which I am very grateful. I’m taking this battle head on, knowing I have the strength of my family and friends behind me,” she added.

Now, what she meant by ‘high grade cancer’ and ‘metasised’? Let us clearly know about these medical terms.
High-Grade Cancer
It’s a term used to describe cells and tissue that look abnormal under a microscope. High-grade cancer cells tend to grow and spread more quickly than low-grade cancer cells. Cancer grade may be used to help plan treatment and determine prognosis. High-grade cancers usually have a worse prognosis than low-grade cancers and may need treatment right away or treatment that is more aggressive (intensive)
Metastasize
This means cancer has already started spreading to other parts of the body. It is the medical term used for cancer that spreads to a different part of the body from where it started. Meanwhile, it is also referred to as “metastatic cancer” and “stage 4 cancer.” Metastases (the plural form of metastasis) most commonly develop when cancer cells break away from the main tumor and enter the bloodstream or lymphatic system. These systems carry fluids around the body. This means that the cancer cells can travel far from the original tumor and form new tumors when they settle and grow in a different part of the body. Metastases can also sometimes develop when cancer cells from the main tumor, typically in the abdominal (belly) cavity, break off and directly “seed” other areas within the abdominal cavity.

Well, Bendre had made her debut opposite Govinda in Aag(1994) had won the Filmfare Award for Lux New Face of the Year. Apart from Bollywood, she has also worked in Telugu, Tamil, Marathi and Kannada films. Born in Mumbai, she is married to film director Goldie Behl.
Further, she has also worked with various Bollywood superstars like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan, Suniel Shetty and Saif Ali Khan. While she has last worked in Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara! (2013). Later, she was also seen in a TV show Ajeeb Daastaan Hai Ye.
