World Theater Day: From Stage to Screen, 5 Actors Who Made it Big in Bollywood Through Theaters

While Bollywood is famous for glamour, star power, Khans, and Kapoors but behind it there lie the hard-work of theatre actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Irrfan Khan who with their will-power have achieved the impossible heights in the film industry.

Since March 1961, World Theatre Day is celebrated by  International Theatre Institute. So, on this day we like to share the journey of these theatre actors who later turned into Bollywood stars.

Shah Rukh Khan

After completing theatres from National School of Drama, SRK Started his journey on TV in Fauji,  since then the King of Bollywood has almost covered a long 25-years journey as an actor in Bollywood since making a debut in the blockbuster film Deewana. While at the age of 52 the Bollywood star is still going strong and is among the most popular star in the world.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Irrfan Khan is the other National School of Drama graduate who mostly went unrecognized in the initial phase of his career. Later he was praised for his outstanding performances in films like Kahaani, while his performances in Gangs of Wasseypur series is extremely praised by the critics.

Indeed, National School of Drama has contributed a lot to the Indian cinema. Irrfan Khan, who became popular for his performance in Maqbool turned out to be one of the finest actors in the Bollywood industry with films like The Lunchbox, Talvar, and Hindi Medium.

Radhika Apte

Radhika Apte is one of those actors who had been actively participating in theatres and stage since her school days. Recently, the 32-year-old actor displayed her extraordinary acting skills in Akshay Kumar’s PadMan which is one of the most popular films in 2018.

Rajkummar Rao

Very few know that  Rajkummar Rao has begun his journey in Bollywood with the movie Love Sex Aur Dhokha in 2010. While graduating from Film and Television Institute of India, the 33-year-old actor has quietly achieved stardom and in the era of six-pack abs, the Newton star is a rare one.
