Does Virat Kohli Want Sanju Samson in Indian Team After A Blistering 92 vs RCB?

The 11th match of IPL season 11 saw Rajasthan Royals, swashbuckling batsman Sanju Samson scoring his eighth half-century to crush Royal Challengers Bangalore and register their 2nd win of the tournament on Sunday.

The 23-year-old batsman from Kerala smashed 10 sixes and 2 fours to score a stunning 92 not out in just 45-balls to lift the 2008 IPL champions to 217/4 after RCB skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Unfortunately, RCB could score only 198/6 in 20 overs before losing the match by 19 runs at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangaluru. Finally, Sanju Samson was declared the Man of the Match for his magnificent performance.

Well! Sanju Samson’s heroics against Virat Kohli’s side has proved that Indian Premier League is not just about foreign players or stars from the national team.

After the game was over, Virat Kohli was in all praise for the young star while he was clueless about why he has not graduated to the next level.

Meanwhile, Virat seems to be pointing out something which Sanju might have never pondered upon and the reason can be that he has played only one T20 against Zimbabwe in 2015.

Appreciating Sanju’s batting style and technique, the Indian skipper said, “It was brilliant. He is a really talented player, we have seen over the years he has done well in IPL. He has got a good, simple game, quite strong in the crease, very balanced.”

Further, he said, “He got off to a good start, then bowlers bowled well, but he kept his shape, hanging in there. Eventually, in the end, he was watching the ball well, striking it really well.”

“Sanju can answer that better,” Virat said, on being asked why Samson hasn’t made such an impact playing domestic cricket.

Virat was definitely impressed by the Kerala Batsman’s innings when he said, “I don’t know how he prepares for certain games and formats. It is really up to the individual, but what I have seen of him, he is a really, really talented player and he can bat like that on his day.”

It seems that opportunity is knocking the door of Sanju Samson after he delivered such a wonderful knock against Virat Kohli’s team.

Virat, who his himself part of IPL for so many years advised the youngsters to be confident which playing for the world’s most popular cricket tournament, he said, “You should give him credit for doing well on a particular day and wish him well for the future games as well because all young guys who have talent should feel confident with this kind of tournaments. Then you keep creating that pool of players that each team looks at.”

He ended saying,”I am more optimistic for these guys. If they don’t score in first-class cricket, I don’t think I can answer that. He can answer that better.”

Also, last year he had scored a blasting 102 off 63 balls and his innings had 8 boundaries and 5 sixes while playing for Delhi Daredevils against Rising Pune Supergiant on 11th Apr 2017 at Maharastra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune to become the second youngest player to score an IPL century only after Manish Pandey.

So, Is the current Indian skipper hinting about including Sanju Samson in India? Moreover, MS Dhoni is already 36 thus it’s high time Virat Kohli and Indian Cricket Team look for other options. With such performances in IPL, Sanju Samson comes out as a great replacement.
