Commando Star Vidyut Jammwal Becomes The Only Indian To Make It To Top 6 Martial Artists Around The World

Commando famed Vidyut Jammwal who is popularly known as “The New Age Action Hero of Bollywood” recently became the only Indian to make it to the Looper’s list of top martial artists across the world.

The 37-year-old actor recently spoke on his achievement and is proud to make it to the prestigious list of Looper, a highly coveted platform in US.

In his words, “This is indeed an honour. Recognition like this inspires me to work harder and this moment makes me feel like a proud Indian.”

Being a trained martial artist, and having learned Kalaripayattu since the age of 3, VJ had a dream to bring this oldest martial art system to the whole world. Now, it seems that he is succeeding at his goal and has given Indians another reason to celebrate.

Moreover, Vidyut has recently finished shooting for his upcoming family adventure movie – “Junglee” with the famous film director Charles “Chuck” Russell, who is the director of renowned films like The Mask, Scorp, on King and The Eraser. 

Further, the Junglee director recently appreciated Vidyut Jammwal’s inclusion in the list and said, “It’s great to see Vidyut being noted as the rising star in action films across the world. He has a rare combination of cinematic charm and killer moves that will make him unstoppable after this film.”

Further, Russell admired Jammwal’s understanding of the martial art. He said, What really distinguishes Vidyut is his deep knowledge of the martial art “Kalaripayattu” and his understanding of its philosophy to not only protect & fight, but also use it to heal.”

“I had the pleasure of creating his role in Junglee to play his style of action supporting a positive message.  I can’t wait for audiences to see it on the big screen.” said the 60-year-old director.

On receiving appreciation from Russell, Vidyut Jammwal said, “Chuck’s kind words are icing on the cake. Working with him on Junglee was like a dream come true. He pushed me to extract one of my best performances so far.”

Well, the other popular martial artists in the list are Johnny Nguyen, Ilram Choi, Wu Jing, Marko Zaror, Lateef Crowder, and Scott Adkins.

Born in Jammu, Vidyut Jammwal was trained in Kalaripayattu from an ashram in Palakkad, Kerala since he was 3 years old, which was run by his mother. He has a degree in martial arts and has even participated as a contestant in GLADRAGS in the year 2000. Later, he made his debut in Tollywood with Shakti.

Then he landed his first role in a Bollywood movie in Nishikant Kamat’s Force(2011). He later worked in films like Bullett Raja, Commando 2 and Baadshaho and was seen in a  popular TV series CID. Apart from that, he has also starred in a music video Gal Ban Gayi opposite Urvashi Rautela. Also, he has been part of a large number of popular lists including-  Most Desirable, Fittest men with Best Bodies, and Sexiest Men Alive.

While his upcoming movie Junglee produced by Junglee Pictures will hit the screens on April 5, 2019.
