Lionel Messi clocks up a milestone scores his career’s 600th goal

Lionel Messi nets milestone in top-of-table win vs. Atletico Madrid at Camp Nou on Sunday. The  legendary Argentine footballer scored his 600th career goal against Atletico Madrid

The milestone came up in the 26th minute when Messi scored the only goal of the match when Barcelona was awarded a free kick outside their visitors’ box. The shot by Messi had too much pace in it that it became impossible for Jan Oblak to keep out.

His goal came as a victory for the team as FC Barcelona crushed Atletico Madrid by 1-0.

With this, Messi yet again created another milestone scoring a total of 539 goals for FC Barcelona and 61 for Argentina in his 747 appearances.

This was his 3rd goal from a direct free kick in all the matches of his career which created a new milestone for the Barcelona star.

Since his debut for Barcelona in the 2004-05 season, Messi has scored almost 40 goals in all competitions for his club.

Meanwhile, Messi stands at the top with his 24 goals in this particular season of La Liga while his team-mate Luis Suarez comes second with 20 goals. His rival Cristiano Ronaldo has 16 goals which make him third along with Celta attacker Iago Aspas.

With this Barca has moved one step forward to reclaim the Spanish title. While after this round there are only 11 games left for Barca and apart from that, the team has lost only once in last 42 games since the beginning of the league.
