Padmaavat vs Shri Rajput Karni Sena: Should historical dramas be banned?

Padmaavat is a period drama film which is directed by Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.

India turns into a battle ground as ‘Padmaavat’ the controversial film of the year releases today.

The film is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali who is known for his epic films Devdas, Black. Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani.

The movie was earlier slated for release on 1st December 2017 but the release date was pushed ahead due to controversies.

The controversial film was banned on grounds of misrepresentation of facts.
Later, the Supreme Court lifted the ban and the film release date was re-scheduled on 25th January, 2018.

Though the censor board had cleared the film with few changes but some state government had banned the film including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Ahead of the release the protests all over the country erupted to stop the screening of the film.

While violence and vandalism broke in the other states of the country- Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

According to reports, Members of Shri Rajput Karni Sena, a Rajput caste organisation disfigured two roadways buses in Jaipur along with that they blocked a road.

In Gurgaon, an enraged mob attacked a school bus with carrying children with stones and sticks.

After analysing the above disturbing incidents the country folks want to know whether historical films like Padmaavat should be released in India or not.

Well, no one wants to be a part of these ugly brawls which is currently happening in India.

The activists will not surrender. So, should Bollywood stop producing historical films?
