Messi Becomes The 1st Player To Score His 8th Hat-trick Leads Barcelona To A 4-0 Win Over PSV

Barcelona star Lionel Messi might have struggled at the World Cup and managed to have just one goal in 4 matches before Argentina were eliminated in the last 16.

Further, we all remember one of that scene when Messi dropped to his knees after Argentina dumped out of the world cup by winners, France.

On Tuesday night, Messi reminded everyone as to why he is still regarded as one of the greatest players of the game after scoring a marvellous Champions League hat-trick as Barcelona thrashed PSV Eindhoven 4-0.

His team-mates were left excited after scoring his third goal, while the crowd chanted his name and his manager termed him as  “something that hasn’t been seen in many years”.

His performance against PSV means that he now has 8 Champions League hat-tricks, which is more than his arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo. Well, the 31-year-old has now scored in 14 consecutive Champions League seasons which makes him the 2nd player to do so after Real Madrid legend Raul.

Meanwhile, his opener against PSV was stunning free-kick from 20 yards his 22nd such goal in the last three years. Further, Messi who has taken over Barcelona captaincy after the departure of Andres Iniesta and at the start of the season said his team will do “all we can” to win the Champions League.

Messi’s manager Ernesto Valverde described his first goal as  “absolutely majestic”  and said,  “It’s not that we get tired of saying such things about him – I’d like to keep saying that forever.”

Messi’s 2nd goal came when he combined with midfielder Rakitic and swept a half-volley home before he completed his hat-trick by slotting into the bottom corner in the closing stages.

Praising Messi, Valverde said, “Normally if you score a hat-trick you frame it. Messi makes the extraordinary look routine,”

On Twitter, Messi became a rage after he was termed as “The GOAT” – greatest of all-time with his name tweeted 326,000 times.
