Mcmafia: Watch Nawazuddin Siddiqui steal the limelight in his international web series

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, known for his intense character in Gangs of Wasseypur and Babumoshai Bandookbaaz delves into the murky depths of global crime.

The 43-year-old actor plays the role of a corrupt Mumbai importer, Dilly Mahmood, in the TV drama.

In the entire eight-episode series, Nawaz doesn’t appear in every one but whenever he appears he creates an impact.

In one of his episode, he says, “I’m a Muslim. In this country, every dollar is 50 cents for me. There is the police, the city hall, the Shiv Sena…”

A few days ago, Nawaz had thanked his director on Twitter for including him in his international web series, he wrote,” #McMafia being my first International Web Series has come out really amazing. All Thanx to Director #JamesWatkins.”

While the director James Watkins cannot stop praisng Nawaz said, I have wanted to work with Nawazuddin Siddiqui since I first saw his transformative talents shine in films like Gangs of Wasseypur, and Miss Lovely.

He is not only a mesmerising star with a sizzling on-screen presence but also among the greatest actors in the world. And, I don’t say that casually.”Watkins added.

Further, he said, “He seems to breathe the role rather than act it. He is the master of micro detail, with a peerless ability to convey through his eyes.His commitment to exploring the truth of his characters, however draining or tiring it may be, is unwavering.”

McMafia is based is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by British journalist Misha Glenny.

Alongside, Nawazuddin the cast includes James Norton, Russian Actor Aleksey Serebryakov, British Actress Faye Marsay, and David Strathairn.

Speaking on the drama, Hossein Amini, the co-creator of the series, said, “The gangsters have changed, they are not in the shadows anymore. They can be bankers, lawyers, government ministers,”

At a London screening, Amini said, “The line between the underworld and the overworld does not exist any longer.”

While, the director of the series, James Watkins agreed that, “The criminal is becoming corporate and the corporate is becoming criminal,”

Though McMafia seems to excessively familiar for the first four episodes it was a compelling drama, constructed with thought and care.
