Happy Birthday Rajkummar Rao: 5 Movies Which Proves That He Is A Gift From The Universe To Bollywood

In the era of Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, and Tiger Shroff, Haryana boy Rajkummar Rao has created his own place in Bollywood. Despite having a guy next door personality along with unconventional looks, Rao is gaining a lot of praise from the audience as well as the critics for his extraordinary performance in his recent films.

Making his Bollywood debut in 2010 with Love Sex Aur Dhokha, Rajkummar Rao has yet again proved his mettle in movies such as Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 2, and Shahid.

On his 34th birthday, let’s take a look at some of his most remarkable movies:

1. Love, Sex Aur Dhoka

Directed by Dibakar Banerjee, Love, Sex Aur Dhokha was the first Indian movie which was presented in the found footage style. Meanwhile, Rajkummar was seen playing the role of Adarsh a greedy man who uses sex to gain money in order to pay his debts. LSD was itself an experimental film and it was Rao who chose such a unique movie for his debut, displaying confidence in his unique talent.

2. Kai Po Che

Rajkummar Rao needed a movie which will prove his worth in Bollywood. Fortunately, his first major commercial success came in with Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che which also starred  Sushant Singh Rajput and Amit Sadh in leading roles. While the movie was based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel 3 Mistakes of my Life, it was Rajkummar who gave a superb performance as Govind Patel, a man who wants to expand their little sports business into a big one. Meanwhile, critics too praise his performance in the movie.

3. Bareilly Ki Barfi

Rajkummar Rao totally stunned his audience when he played a meek boy character name Pritam Vidrohi and suddenly took a  “Badass Babuaa” avatar in Bareilly Ki Barfi.  Well, his character in the movie was equally appreciated with Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon who were the leading actors in the movie.  Director  Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s movie turned out to be both critical and a commercial success at the box office.

4. Newton

With Director Amit V Masurkar’s Newton, Rajkummar Rao proved that he is here to stay not just because of his name, but because of the quality work which he brings to the screen. Well, the comedy-drama was praised in India as well as internationally too. Further,  Newton was selected as the Indian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards.

5. Omerta

Rajkummar Rao who plays the role of Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, British terrorist of Pakistani descent in Omerta was once again praised for his acting. Well, the biographical crime drama movie showcases the 1994 kidnappings of Westerners in India in which Omar was arrested and serving the time in prison. Though the movie couldn’t perform as per the expectations at the box-office, it was praised by the critics.

Indeed, Rajkummar is a gift from the whole universe to Bollywood.
