England manager Gareth Southgate said, “We’re in a World Cup semifinal. Whether we’re in the top four in the world is something we would still have to prove.”

It seems that the England manager is really proud of his teams achievements. Well, he should be and don’t be surprised if his team wents on to win the semi-finals.

Later, he added, “It will be a sign to all clubs that, whether it’s in England or abroad, that English players can play, that we’ve got players with super technique.”

France are termed as favourites in the current tournament and we have not doubt over it as they have earlier crushed Belgium 5-0 at Nantes in the group stage of the 1984 European Championship after Michel Platini scored a hat trick.

While France had won 4-2 in the  3rd place game of the 1986 World Cup in Mexico after Belgium lost its semifinal against Argentina and the star player of the match was none other than Diego Maradona.

Long back, France had registered a 3-1 win in Paris in the round of 16 at the 1938 World Cup. Meanwhile, England had reached the World Cup semifinals just once as they had lost to West Germany on penalty kicks at Italia 1990.

Well, Enlishmen has won its  only title at Wembley in 1966.  Also, France have lost the semifinals in 1958 and 1982, after winning its only World Cup at home in 1998.

Also,  Croatia had lost to France  in the 1998 semifinals in its 1st appearance as an independent nation after the disintegration of Yugoslavia.

Southgate said, “The reason that foreign players play in the Premiership is because we pay the most money, so that is very straightforward.”

Further, whoever wins, the win is going to be triumph of the Big Five — Europe’s top professional leagues. 81 of of 92 players on semifinal are with clubs in England (40), Spain (12), France (12), Germany (9) and Italy (8).
