Finally, after a long-wait Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma starrer Sui Dhaaga has hit the theatres and guess what audience, critics, and renowned celebrities are loving the movie and the performance of the actors. On the other hand, veteran filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj also comes with a comedy-drama with not so popular actors but with immense talent.

Sui Dhaaga- Made in India

Director: Sharat Katariya

Cast: Varun Dhawan, Anushka, Sharma, Raghubir Yadav

Review: 3.5/5

Well, the comedy-drama directed by Sharat Katariya is a simple story about Mamta (Anushka Sharma) and Mauji (Varun Dhawan) who belong to a below poverty line family.

Talking about Mauji, he has an ailing mother, a resentful father along with a wife while Mauji is like every other common man in this country who is happy with his mediocre life until his wife makes him realize that he is wasting his professional life, working for his because he is so talented.

While one may think that the movie is going slow in a number of places yet you may feel that the performances of Raghubir Yadav, Anushka Sharma, and Varun Dhawan are extremely engaging.

Further, it seems that Varun Dhawan is really evolving as an actor. After October, Varun Dhawan has yet again given one of his best performances. On the other hand, Anushka Sharma too looked different in the movie and her character was really entertaining.

Meanwhile, Mauji’s relationship with his father is really complicated and one can relate this to their own family. Talking about the music, with no Yo Yo Honey Singh, and Badshah, the music in the movie is melodious.

Further, the way the movie displays the family life of this household, in the outskirts of Delhi, is extraordinary. If we talk about Mamta, her character is a bit too annoying because she is seen crying a lot of times in the movie. Well, no movie is perfect and there are some flaws related to Sui Dhaaga too.

Varun and Anushka’s Sui Dhaaga is one of those beautiful movies which will inspire you to follow your heart. A wonderful family drama with a compelling story, we bet you the movie will be part of your movies for a long period of time.

Pataakha

Director: Vishal Bhardwaj

Cast: Vijay Raaz, Sanya Malhotra, Radhika Madan, Namit Das, Saanand Varma, Abhishek Duhan

Ratings: 3/5

The movie Pataakha talks about two sisters who share a difficult relationship with each other. The story begins somewhere in rural Rajasthan, where the 2 sisters are born fighting and they keep on fighting. Further, their fights are the stuff of the village as they beat and punch each other to the ground. Well, their matted hair and unwashed faces seem as if they have never bathed for so many days.

Also, both of them are way too different from each other while one desires to go to school to open one of her own, the other doesn’t have any interest in school and wants to start her own dairy

Indeed, Bhardwaj doesn’t waste a time before introducing the 2 sisters- Chutki Genda (Malhotra) and  Badki Champa (Madan). While the other cast including village rich guy(Saanand Verma), ‘family friend’ Dipper Naradmuni( Sunil Grover) are perfect and entertaining.

Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the movie Pataakha is based on Charan Singh Pathik’s short story Do Behnein,  Moreover, there are many Bollywood movies which are set in small towns but Vishal Bhardwaj’s Pataakha is raw and provides something different than a movie featuring a renowned film star.

While Varun and Anushka’s Sui Dhaaga is favourite to win this battle, Vishal Bhardwaj’s Pataakha is one of the wonderful movies of the year so far.
