WATCH: Lt. Colonel MS Dhoni Parade in Style to Receive Padma Bhushan

On Monday as India celebrated its seventh anniversary of the famous World Cup triumph, coincidentally on the same day the former Indian captain MS Dhoni received the country’s third highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan, from President Ram Nath Kovind.

This makes Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the second Indian cricketer only after veteran Kapil Dev to receive this honour. Meanwhile, this was also a big day for Star cueist Pankaj Advani and actor Manoj Joshi who too were awarded at the Padma Awards felicitation ceremony.

Taking to Instagram, the 36-year-old cricketer expressed his excitement over receiving the award in uniform and thanked the Indian Army and their families for their sacrifices towards the country.

He wrote, “An honour to get the Padma Bhushan and receiving it in Uniform increases the excitement ten folds.thanks to all the Men and Women in Uniform and their families for the Sacrifices they make so that all of us could enjoy our Constitutional Rights.Jai Hind.”

One With Mr. Prime Minister

MS Dhoni who was honoured for his contributions towards the Indian cricket was first named the captain of the Indian squad for the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 held in South Africa in 2007, the team went on to win finals against Pakistan.

Later, under his captaincy, Indian team climbed to No. 1 position in the ICC Test Rankings in December 2009. While he is the only cricketer in the world to win all the ICC tournaments- ICC World Cup 2011 and ICC Champions Trophy 2013 which makes him the most successful Indian Captain in the history of Indian cricket.
