CBSE  makes an important announcement withdraws uniform assessment policy for class 6 to 8 students.

The notification released by CBSE states that “As per the decision of the Governing Body of the board, the earlier circular regarding the uniform system of assessment, examination and report card for classes  6 to 8 stands repealed.”

After National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), India’s prominent child right body objected that the evaluation policies violated the Right to Education Act (RTE).

Earlier the board had decided to bring in the class 10 board examinations from this year, while the system for continuous evaluation has also been completely removed.

As per the earlier circular,” “to increase the confidence in the students to start preparing for Class 10 Board examination when they join the upper primary stage in Class 6, the CBSE has decided to implement the uniform system of assessment, examination pattern and issue of report cards for classes 6 to 8 also on the similar pattern”.

According to the earlier system, the examination structure for class 6 to 8 will have two terms that include 100 marks per subject.

Moreover, to relieve the pressure of the students appearing for the examination, the board has decided to assist and counsel the students.

CBSE has decided to provide psychological counseling to students every year.

CBSE will offer pre-exam counseling to help the students manage the stress and anxiety levels of the students.

While the Board will also provide post-exam counseling to helps the students decide about their future.

CBSE is the only board in India that provides counseling sessions to class 10 and 12 students.
